Easing the Burden of Loss
When a patient experiences serious side effects from cancer treatment with Keytruda, their life may permanently change for the worse.
We can help Keytruda victims recover financial damages for medical costs, funeral arrangements, and the emotional toll.
About Keytruda and Its Side Effects
Keytruda (pembrolizumab) helps patients fight cancer by boosting their immune system’s ability to destroy cancerous cells. It can help stop or slow the spread of cancer cells throughout the body, and it can be used on its own or in combination with other types of cancer treatment.
However, pembrolizumab may also increase the risk of the immune system attacking healthy cells. If it does so, patients may experience the following side effects:
- Liver injury and failure
- Acute kidney injury
- Pneumonitis
- Colitis
- Stevens-Johnson syndrome
- Toxic epidermal necrolysis
- Other organ damage
- Other organ failure
- Death

We can’t change the past, but we can change your future. Use our free tool to find out if you have a case and qualify for financial compensation.
Making Your Case
First, we investigate your claim by collaborating with top medical professionals and gathering evidence of how Keytruda, or pembrolizumab, caused your medical condition. Then, we file a Keytruda lawsuit against the pharmaceutical company.
If the defendant is willing to negotiate a just settlement, we’ll work with them to get you maximum compensation. If not, we’ll take your case to trial to recover the damages you’ve suffered.
Frequently Asked Questions

If your circumstances line up with potential pembrolizumab side effects, you should contact an attorney who specializes in pharmaceutical litigation. As a legal expert, they can build a case against the pharmaceutical company.
Our legal team at Dunn Sheehan has won dozens of pharmaceutical lawsuits—we can help ease the financial burden of severe and unexpected medical issues.
It depends on your state and the length of time since the pembrolizumab injury. The statute of limitations for pharmaceutical litigation varies between states.

Dunn Sheehan has handled cases in nearly 40 states and assisted drug injury victims across the country. Your location may affect the timeline of our case, as the statute of limitation varies from state to state for product liability claims, but your drug injury lawyer will discuss this with you before taking on your case.
The amount of compensation paid by the manufacturer depends on the extent of the damage done to you and your family.
Working with a drug injury advocate can help you recover costs associated with medical treatment, like diagnosing, treating, and managing symptoms. You can also seek compensation for mental and emotional suffering as any wages lost while you or your loved one were hospitalized.
The FDA first approved Keytruda on September 4, 2014, for treating advanced melanoma. Since then, the FDA has expanded its approval to cover a wide variety of cancers, including carcinoma, lung cancer, Hodgkin lymphoma, and many more.
On June 17, 2024, the FDA granted Keytruda’s 40th approval in the United States. More studies and clinical trials are ongoing to continue refining and expanding pembrolizumab’s use for cancer treatment.
Keytruda is a type of immunotherapy used to treat cancer. Some cancer cells avoid your body’s immune system by binding to the PD-1 protein, found on T cells. This prevents your T cells from attacking the cancerous cells, essentially “hiding” the cancer.
By binding to the PD-1 protein first, Keytruda blocks cancer cells from hiding. This allows T cells to identify and attack cancer more easily. However, healthy cells also use the PD-1 protein. When Keytruda blocks these cells’ access to the PD-1 protein, it increases the risk that the immune system will attack healthy cells.
If the body’s immune system turns on healthy tissues, a patient can experience a wide variety of severe conditions, up to and including organ failure and death. If the manufacturer fails to sufficiently warn consumers about these side effects, or if they improperly market the medication, patients may be eligible to claim compensation through a Keytruda lawsuit.
This eligibility to file a claim extends to clinical trials as well. By showing that the pharmaceutical company knew about and chose not to disclose the potential Keytruda risks for a certain group, the company is liable for the major medical trauma and death suffered by the clinical trial participants.
